Sandarsh Pandey

I am a second year PhD student in Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where I work in the Visual Cognition and Attention Lab with Kyle Cave .

Before coming to UMass, I was a Research Assistant at the Centre for Neuroscience at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore where I worked with Sridhar Devarajan. Prior to that, I was an undergraduate in the department of Biological Sciences and Bio-engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur where I worked with Nitin Gupta. I was first introduced to the field of cognitive psychology through a two month summer internship with Krishna Miyapuram at the Centre for Cognitive Science at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar.

Research

I'm interested in understanding how visual information is represented in the mind, and the hierarchical aspect of these representations. Information is represented in a hierarchical fashion whether it be in the domain of language, memory or vision. In my ongoing project I am studying hierarchical visual representations.
